Biography

La’ Shunda Howard, Ed. S, NBCT, earned her Dyslexia Practitioner’s certification with Orton Gillingham Academy, and the Impact Structured Literacy Program, ISME (a subsidiary of the International Dyslexia Association), as well as a Dyslexia Practitioners certification with Wilson Language Company.  She earned a BSN from the University of Miami, and a BS in Elementary Education from Nova Southeastern University.  Ms. Shunda achieved her Master’s degree in

Reading from Florida International University. Additionally, she has earned an Educational

Specialist degree in Exceptional Student Education from Florida State University. She is a

highly qualified, effective educator with over 30 years of teaching experience, and is National

Board Certified. She is currently a Dyslexic Coach for The Lucy Project.
 
Ms. Shunda has worked as a general and special education teacher at both Elementary and Secondary education levels, working with varying exceptionalities such as students with

Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD/ADD, Autism, and Giftedness. She has extensive training working

with students who thrive with specialized interventions such as Orton-Gillingham based methods. She has a proven track record for increasing reading and spelling outcomes for all clients.
 
Most students thrive when given a multi-sensory structured language program tailored to improve unique areas of deficit. The techniques used in every tutoring session follow a multi-sensory approach, games and manipulatives are incorporated into lessons, reinforcing previously learned concepts in an engaging way. Our learning specialists are certified teachers, Orton-Gillingham , Wilson Reading, and/or Barton Reading trained. Your child will benefit from our highly skilled interventionists.

Kimberly R-Minniefield is a graduate of Barry University. In addition to her employment with the State Attorney’s Office of Florida, Ms. Kim is the Administrative Assistant, and Educational Specialist. She is responsible for completing administrative duties, tutoring and serving as the first point of contact for all students needing services provided by LHAT.
